World renowned motivational speakers often preach the need to approach any task with just one person in mind… YOU! They stress the need for us to truly immerse ourselves in our duties so that we gain personal fulfillment, which will later propel us to greatness.
They also remind us, despite the famous saying, “encouragement sweetens labour” to never rely on praises, recommendations or accolades as that may cause us to be distracted, leading to mediocre results. It is therefore important that we place our whole selves into whatever we do on a daily basis, only then will we realize our full potential.
Recently, we published Simone Folkes’ story, the 2016 Tourism Service Excellence Awards (TSEA) Individual National Champion. At just 24, Simone has had quite an interesting journey in tourism (read her story here) which I am sure will inspire others to perform exceptionally.
Because of her persistence, drive and passion, Simone not only received a prestigious award, but she is enjoying the white sand beaches of Barbados as you read this.
On Sunday February 12, 2018, prior to her departure, she was hosted by Club Kingston at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) for an ultra-VIP experience which included full access to the comfortable lounge area, the all-inclusive bar and food option, priority check in and escort to the boarding area. To make the moment even more special, Simone’s mother got the chance to experience all the luxuries Club Kingston had to offer, as she has joined her on her trip to Barbados!
This all sounds enticing and exciting and I am sure that you our nominees and soon to be announced semi-finalists are waiting with bated breath to know if, like Simone you will be awarded National Champions, and afforded the opportunity to sip fine drinks in a lounge prior to boarding your flight on Caribbean Airlines.
We are sure, like her, you would love to be in Sandals Barbados relaxing on the beach, with your sunglasses perched on your nose while looking into the Caribbean sun, and we are certain you will love immersing yourself in another culture, tasting different foods, and falling asleep in a luxurious suite to the faint sounds of paradise.
You are all stars, and while it is encouraged that work should not be done only to receive praises or promotions, we understand that it makes you feel appreciated and recognized. This is the reason we encourage all our tourism service providers to continue working and delivering at a high standard, and always be mindful that, “as you sow, so shall you reap…”
