The event was convened on Thursday, July 07, 2022, at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, with the objective of celebrating the team for their outstanding service, particularly as the organization was charged with additional roles and responsibilities during the heights of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards included areas of Overachievers, Long Service Award for service upwards of a decade, Star Performers awards for all the resort areas and regional offices, Attractions awards for the employees at the TPDCO-managed offices of Rio Grande and Roaring River, Heart of the House, The People’s Choice Awards, Above and Beyond, Employee of the Year, Innovator of the Year, and Leader of the year, of which two were copped by former Executive Director, Professor Andrew Spencer.

In a recorded message by Minister of Tourism Honourable Edmund Bartlett, he underscored the value of all TPDCo staff and their noteworthy contribution to Jamaica’s leading sector.

“You are involved at the very core, and for every experience, you have been part of progress and upward mobility for many of our local communities and by extension the major players who benefit from the skills of our service providers. We like to say that TPDCo plays a major role in the overall success of the tourism sector.”

Greetings was brought by the organization’s Executive Director who expressed delight at participating in the ceremony and charged the staff to continue in their exceptional roles in the development of Jamaica’s extraordinary tourism product. Similar sentiments were shared by the Chairman, Ian Dear.  He reminded the team of their prowess as the force behind the tourism product, and the impact TPDCo continues to make because of the skills and talents of each team member.

The staff received a rousing motivational keynote address from certified coach and trainer Rochelle Cameron.

“You are showing up for service for this great nation. You are also building the nation for the next generation, and that is because each person here presents their best self every day. I wish to remind you to step into your purpose and give yourself permission to succeed.” Said Cameron.
