TPDCo to host COVID-19 and vaccination sessions


The Tourism Product Development Company Limited (TPDCo), will host a series of COVID-19 and vaccination refresher sessions for tourism workers. The sessions form part of efforts to maintain a safe and compliant environment for tourism workers and local and international visitors.

All current covid-19 protocols; the importance and benefits of getting vaccinated, pending the reopening and full recovery of the tourism sector will be emphasized at the sensitizations.

According to Western Training Manager for TPDCo, Megan Mollison “Safe and resilient tourism has consistently been a foundational element of Jamaica’s tourism industry.  The Covid 19 Tourism protocol was designed to support consistent standards across the industry.  These protocols consider the health, safety and well-being of tourists, employees and communities, seeking to reduce the risk of exposure to Covid-19 while promoting an enjoyable and relaxing experience.”

The sessions got off the ground on Thursday February 17th at the Montego Bay Convention Centre for Craft Traders and Contract Carriage Operators. The presentation was conducted by the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Mrs. Julian Mullings – Parish Health Promotion and Education Officer for St. James.

The Negril session will convene on February 23, 2022, for all service providers at the Rayon Hotel from 10-12 noon. The presentation will be conducted by the Ministry of health and Wellness’ Gerald Miller – Parish Health and Education officer for Westmoreland.

On February 25, 2022, the team will return to Montego Bay to host a session for accommodations, car rentals and attractions from 10 am -12 noon at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. The event will be live streamed on TPDCo and Jamaica Information Service’s Facebook and Youtube pages.

All service providers will be able to join the South Coast’s sessions on March 3,2022 from 10 am-12 noon at Breds Sports Park Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth and on March 08, 2022, at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville, Manchester.

The Ocho Rios session is scheduled for March 15th at the Anglican Church Hall and March 17th for Portland at Hotel Tim Bamboo, at 10 am-12 noon respectively.

The sessions will conclude on March 31st in Kingston at the Talk of The Town at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel and will last from 9 am through to 1 pm.
