Fort Montego

The remnants of Fort Montego, an old British Fort which was built to protect Jamaica from French and Spanish attacks and to help the Bay of Montego free from pirates is located where downtown Montego Bay meets the Hip Strip.

Three cannons and the remnants of the artillery store remain and are part of the heritage of the city. Upgrading works have been undertaken to preserve this treasure at a cost of Twenty Five Million Dollars ($25M).  Works include fencing, landscaping, provision of gates for armoury and placement of story boards highlighting the significance of the fort.
