Team Jamaica

TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE

The Team Jamaica programme targets persons who work directly in the tourism sector as well as government employees who interact with tourists on a regular basis.

The programme is a two-week exercise comprising seven (7) modules which include tourism awareness, tourism services/product, work experience, leadership and motivation as well as customer service. The programme has a train-the-trainer component. The purpose of this programme is to empower trainers in the industry to deliver the product within various entities.

The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has been given the mandate to deliver the Team Jamaica Programme to all employees in the sector by the year 2005, which includes a workforce of 70,000 direct employees.

TEAM 'DISCOVER' JAMAICA
Rediscovering the Beauty and Diversity of the Island

One of the best ways to sell the Jamaican product and your service is through well informed workers with a solid base of product knowledge. Business operators should ensure that workers who interact directly with visitors have a comprehensive knowledge of their service and of the island's tourism offerings to provide accurate information to visitors. An uninformed worker can present a limiting picture of the quality of your service.

Once a year, TPDCo conducts the Team ‘Discover’ Jamaica orientation exercise. This is a day tour developed to familiarize tourism employees with aspects of the tourism product, so they can be well-informed ‘ambassadors’ for the country. A nominal fee is charged.
