"Remaining Competitive in a Global Environment"

The Tourism Product Development Company Ltd (TPDCo) Product Quality Department will be staging a tourism seminar for industry stakeholders on the South Coast under the theme "Remaining Competitive in a Global Environment" on Tuesday July 8, 2008 at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville.

The seminar which is aimed at providing relevant industry information to its participants, is expected to help enterprises meet and maintain industry and regulatory requirements.

Topics to be covered include:

• Funding for small tourism enterprises;
• Marketing tips for South Coast tourism enterprises;
• Energy conservation and the bottom line;
• Regulatory requirements - Security, Fire, Public Health, NEPA, Public liability; and,
• The impact of climate changes on tourism.   

The seminar will also feature interactive booth displays in a business breakaway session which will facilitate participants speaking one-on-one with insurance companies, banking institutions and regulatory agencies.

This year's seminar hopes to replicate the successful staging of the Accommodations seminar in July 2007 which featured energy conservation presentations from PCJ.  The seminar helped stimulate suggestions from the audience on a number of conservation methods, and acted as a forum to air some of the challenges being experienced in the sub sector. 

Seminar costs are being absorbed by TPDCo and invitations are currently being sent to a cross section of tourism entities who will participate free of charge.
