2016 Tourism Service Excellence Awards (TSEA) Individual National Champion Simone Folkes, as part of her prize, spent seven (7) days at the Sandals Resort in Barbados and was afforded spending money courtesy of the National Export- Import Bank (EXIM); both of which are sponsors of the awards programme.

At the official send off on Sunday February 11, 2018, Folkes was presented with her Caribbean Airlines ticket by the sponsoring airline. The presentation was conducted at the Club Kingston lounge area, at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston.

Prior to her departure, the Individual National Champion was hosted by the luxurious airport lounge company where she was given access to several amenities prior to check in and boarding escort.

Folkes, who returned to the island on Sunday February 18, 2018, expressed her gratitude to TSEA for recognizing those who contribute to the tourism sector. “I gained a well-rounded experience, for which I am grateful. I toured the Sandals property and took advantage of the many activities that the resort had to offer. The highlight of my trip, however was meeting the country’s Minister of Tourism. TSEA is an example that hard work pays off.” She said.

The TSEA awards programme which is a project of the Ministry of Tourism is executed by the Tourism Product Development Company Limited (TPDCo) and funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF). The awards programme recognizes and rewards individuals and entities that continue to provide exceptional customer service in the tourism sector. This year’s staging of the awards will be held on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James.
